EuroRegionalMap country contribution provides a geographic database for topographic data that will be maintained at the source level by the National Mapping and Cadastral Agencies (NMCAs), and by providing harmonized access conditions within the framework of EuroGeographics.

Description

The Greek contribution to the ERM database was mainly derived from the official Greek Topographic / Cartographic Database DB250K, a topologically structured vector dataset at a nominal scale 1:250K.

This vector data set has been created based on the analog 250K maps of HMGS, and amended respectively using ortho-rectified satellite imagery and other digital sources to meet real world status.

Mainly the following ancillary data sources have been used:

(+) Geographical Names and Toponyms Database of HMGS, which is a digital gazetteer of all the names depicted on 1:50 000 scale maps.

(+) 1:250 000 scale maps from our national data set based on this scale.

(+) 1:50 000 scale maps from our national data set.

(+) Vmap level 1 database for Greece (CD085).

(+) Aeronautical Information for Airport locations and attributes from NGA data and Greek source data for Greek airports and aeronautical fields.

(+) Additional drawings for updating of major highways recently constructed or in the process of being constructed.

(+) Other analog maps from our analog map library.
