Laut Thüringer Geodateninfrastrukturgesetz

(ThürGDIG) vom 8. Juli 2009 ist das Geoportal eine Kommunikations-, Transaktions- und Interaktionsplattform, die den Zugang zu den Geodaten über Geodatendienste und weitere Netzdienste ermöglicht.
