Ursprünglich stammen die Daten vom VMS (Punktgeometrie mit Koordinaten, Nummerierung und Bezeichnung). Auf Basis des Orthofotos der Stadt Chemnitz wurden die Punkte (soweit im Luftbild erkennbar) manuell lagegenau auf den jeweiligen Haltestellenstandort korrigiert. Dabei liegt der Punkt i. d. R. auf Höhe der Haltestellenstele. Die Haltestellensteige werden in einem Haltestellenkataster mit weiteren Attributen gepflegt.
