Der Jugendquotient gibt die Zahl der unter 20 Jährigen auf 100 Personen im Alter zwischen 20 und 65 Jahren an, der Altenquotient die Zahl der 65-Jährigen und älteren Personen bezogen auf 100 Personen im Alter zwischen 20 und 65 Jahren. Die Daten stammen aus der sechsten regionalisierten Bevölkerungsvorausberechnung (mittlere Variante). Als Basis dieser Vorausberechnung dienen die Ergebnisse der Bevölkerungsfortschreibung zum 31. Dezember 2020. Die Geburtenrate steigt bis 2025 von heute 1,57 auf 1,6 Kinder je Frau. Danach bleibt sie bis 2070 konstant. Die Lebenserwartung nimmt bis 2040 bei Frauen von heute 83 auf 85 Jahre und bei Männern von 79 auf 82 Jahre zu. Bis 2070 wird ein weiterer Anstieg bei Frauen auf 87 Jahre und bei Männern auf 85 Jahre unterstellt. In der Projektion wird angenommen, dass der Wanderungssaldo von 17 300 bis 2025 auf +20 000 Personen pro Jahr steigt. Auf diesem Niveau bleibt er bis 2030. Anschließend sinkt der Saldo bis 2040 auf +15 000 Personen. Dies entspricht in etwa dem langfristigen Wanderungssaldo, den Rheinland-Pfalz im Zeitraum 1951 bis 2020 durchschnittlich pro Jahr verbuchte. Ab 2040 bleibt der Saldo bis zum Ende des Vorausberechnungszeitraums konstant. :Bevölkerung unter 20 Jahre 2040, Anteil in %.
