Potenzielle Natürliche Vegetation Thüringens

Die Karte der Potenziellen Natürlichen Vegetation Thüringens entstand auf Initiative des Bundesamtes für Naturschutz Bonn in Zusammenarbeit mit der Thüringer Landesanstalt für Umwelt und Geologie. Sie ist ein Teilprojekt im Rahmen der "Erstellung einer Übersichtskarte der Potenziellen Natürlichen Vegetation von Deutschland im Maßstab 1 : 500.000 mit gleichzeitiger Erfassung und Erhebung naturnaher Wälder als Grundlage für nationale und internationale Naturschutzplanungen". Die Karten wurden auf der Basis einer zusammenführenden Auswertung verschiedener landeskundlicher Kartierungen (naturräumliche, geologische, bodenkundliche Karten, land- und forstwirtschaftliche Standortserkundungen, Vegetationskartierungen) sowie durch ergänzende Vor-Ort-Erhebungen erstellt.
