Die Richtlinie 2007/2/EG des Europäischen Parlaments und des Rates vom 14. März 2007 zur Schaffung einer Geodateninfrastruktur in der Europäischen Gemeinschaft (INSPIRE) ist am 15. Mai 2007 in Kraft getreten. Die Richtlinie wurde im Europäischen Amtsblatt veröffentlicht. Sie schafft den rechtlichen Rahmen für die staaten- und verwaltungsgrenzenübergreifende Nutzung von Geoinformationen.
