Das Innenministerium Mecklenburg-Vorpommern im historischen Arsenal am Pfaffenteich hat nicht nur einen breit gefächerten Aufgabenquerschnitt zu bewältigen, es ist auch ein Stück lebendige Geschichte im Herzen der Landeshauptstadt Schwerin.

Der Geschäftsbereich erstreckt sich von Polizei, Verfassungsschutz, Feuerwehr, Katastrophenschutz, Strahlenschutz über Kommunalangelegenheiten, Verwaltungsreform, Staats- und Verwaltungsrecht, Ausländerrecht und Sport bis zu den IT-Angelegenheiten einschließlich eGovernment, Organisation, Personalwesen sowie Aus- und Fortbildung.

Das Ministerium mit seinen über 400 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern gliedert sich in fünf Abteilungen mit den jeweiligen Fachreferaten.

Mehr als 10 Landesbehörden sind dem Innenressort als oberster Landesbehörde nachgeordnet.
