IPCC-DDC_CCCma_CGCM2_SRES_A2: 201 YEARS MONTHLY MEANS Canadian Centre for Climate Modelling and Analysis Canada

The SRES data sets were published by the IPCC in 2000 and classified

into four different scenario families (A1, A2, B1, B2).

SRES_A2 storyline describes a very heterogeneous world

with the underlying theme of self-reliance and preservation

of local identities. It results in this scenario a continous

increasing population together with a slower economic growth

and technological change.

The atmospheric component AGCM2 is a spectral model with

triangular truncation at wave no. 32 and 10 vertical levels.

The ocean model component based on the GFDL MOM 1.1 code

with 29 vertical levels and has a isopycnal / eddy stirring

parameterization (Gent and McWilliams, 1990).

CGCM2 ( http://ec.gc.ca/ccmac-cccma/default.asp?lang=En&n=40D6024E- 1 ).

The changes of anthropogenic emissions of CO2, CH4, N2O and

sulphur dioxide are prescribed according to the above

mentioned scenario.

These data belongs to a set of three ensemble runs, with the

CCCma-model, using the SRES_A2 scenario. They provide monthly

averaged values of selected variables for the IPCC-DDC.

Measure description

None

Attribute description
air_temperature-atNearSurface
Descriptor

Air temperature is the bulk temperature of the air, not the surface (skin) temperature. [CF-Standard Name-vertical_coordinate]; unit: K

Attribute description
surface_temperature
Descriptor

The surface called "surface" means the lower boundary of the atmosphere. The surface temperature is the (skin) temperature at the interface, not the bulk temperature of the medium above or below. [CF-Standard Name]; unit: K

Attribute description
x_wind (variance)
Descriptor

x_wind-variance [CF-Standard Name (cell_method)]; unit: m2 s-2

Attribute description
air_temperature-atNearSurface (minimum)
Descriptor

Air temperature is the bulk temperature of the air, not the surface (skin) temperature. (minimum) [CF-Standard Name-vertical_coordinate-cell_method]; unit: K

Attribute description
specific_humidity
Descriptor

"specific" means per unit mass. Specific humidity is the mass fraction of water vapor in (moist) air.[CF-Standard Name]; unit: kg kg-1

Attribute description
y_wind
Descriptor

"y" indicates a vector component along the grid y-axis, when this is not true latitude, positive with increasing y. Wind is defined as a two-dimensional (horizontal) air velocity vector, with no vertical component. (Vertical motion in the atmosphere has the standard name upward_air_velocity.)[CF-Standard Name]; unit: m s-1

Attribute description
wind_speed-atNearSurface
Descriptor

wind_speed-atNearSurface [CF-Standard Name-vertical_coordinate]; unit: m s-1

Attribute description
air_pressure_at_sea_level
Descriptor

sea_level means mean sea level, which is close to the geoid in sea areas. Air pressure at sea level is the quantity often abbreviated as MSLP or PMSL.[CF-Standard Name]; unit: Pa

Attribute description
surface_downwelling_shortwave_flux_in_air
Descriptor

surface_downwelling_shortwave_flux_in_air [CF-Standard Name]; unit: W m-2

Attribute description
x_wind
Descriptor

"x" indicates a vector component along the grid x-axis, when this is not true longitude, positive with increasing x. Wind is defined as a two-dimensional (horizontal) air velocity vector, with no vertical component. (Vertical motion in the atmosphere has the standard name upward_air_velocity.)[CF-Standard Name]; unit: m s-1

Attribute description
sea_ice_thickness
Descriptor

sea_ice_thickness [CF-Standard Name]; unit: kg m-2

Attribute description
geopotential_height (variance)
Descriptor

Geopotential is the sum of the specific gravitational potential energy relative to the geoid and the specific centripetal potential energy. Geopotential height is the geopotential divided by the standard acceleration due to gravity. It is numerically similar to the altitude (or geometric height) and not to the quantity with standard name height, which is relative to the surface. The Cell Method is variance. [CF-Standard Name (cell_method)]; unit: gpm2

Attribute description
geopotential_height

[CF-Standard Name]; unit: gpm

Attribute description
lwe_convective_precipitation_rate
Descriptor

"lwe" means liquid water equivalent. [CF-Standard Name]; unit: mm d-1

Attribute description
snowfall_amount
Descriptor

snowfall_amount [CF-Standard Name]; unit: kg m-2

Attribute description
surface_temperature (variance)
Descriptor

surface_temperature (variance) [CF-Standard Name (cell_method)]; unit: degC2

Attribute description
air_temperature-atNearSurface (maximum)
Descriptor

Air temperature is the bulk temperature of the air, not the surface (skin) temperature. (maximum) [CF-Standard Name-vertical_coordinate-cell_method]; unit: K
