This service contains information on the population density of 16 seabird species and 3 seabird groups in the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) based on a 10x10 km grid (EU-GRID). The density [individuals/km²] is determined for each 10x10 km grid cell by summing the number of individuals within the respective grid cell and dividing it by the sum of the sampling effort (surveyed area and period in which the area was sampled). Individual layers show the distribution of the seabird species in the respective year and for artspecific season, broken down by seabird species and season (March - May: spring; June - August: summer; September - November: autumn; December - February: winter). Direct comparability with the data in the BfN service "Seabird Monitoring Distribution" is limited, since this BSH service only uses data collected using digital flight observation technology.
